Has anyone installed their own propane heater and if so is it fairly straightforward? We are brand new to pools but do most of our own construction, electrical and plumbing on our house and barn and woodworking shop. We had a pretty bad experience with the pool builder and just dont want to repeat that. We had a Barrier Reef fiberglass inground pool installed (small, 14x30) using Hayward cartridge filter and equipment. Sorry I dont know a lot more, our pool school was about 15 minutes of not much info. We are learning as we go along.

Nothing is hard about it if you are handy. It is just plumbing and a little electrical. I installed a SWCG with no prior experience.

Not real difficult if you are comfortable working with gas, water, and electrical. You may need a permit and a larger tank (if you have propane now). The gas line sizing needs to follow the guidelines in the heater manual.
