Hi All!
We have an in-ground pool, and vinyl liner. We live in Ontario. One of the return plug came off after the winter. We only noticed it recently as spring starts. We don't know exactly when the return plug came off. Now, we are worried that the water getting in the pipe might cause damage.
Does this ever happen to anyone? What could cause this? What's the likelihood that this might cause damage to the pipes?
Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Welcome to TFP.

If the water by the plug freezes then the ice moving in the water can actually pull the plug out if it was not secured tight.

It happens and nothing you can do afterward. Keep your eye on the water level after you open the pool and look for signs of a leak.

The odds are everything is fine.

Happened to me one winter. Happened cause ice pulled it out. You need those wings to be up and down vs left to right. Helps prevent the ice from pulling on them. The wings up and down slices through ice. I got lucky and mine popped out when ice was coming off so we blew the line out again and plugged it back up. I happened to be lowering the water and saw it somehow. I got lucky.

Since we make sure the wings are up and down haven’t had another issue.
