Replacing SWCG - difference between these 2 items?

Hi, I've had an intellichlor ic40 since my pool was installed about 6 years ago. Starting towards the end of last season, it seemed to struggle to produce enough FC for the first time. I've been adding liquid chlorine from time to time to compensate and run it at near 100%, with the pump on from 7am to 10pm. The lights are all normal. This has continued so far this year and it also now routinely over states the salt level (about 4000 vs 3400 using test kit). So I've been looking for a new one. I have the power center and everything else Pentair already so probably going to stick with getting a new cell. However, I'm having trouble determining if there is a difference between these 2 listings on Leslie's. One says 'limited warranty' and the other 'pro grade premium warranty'. But both descriptions say 2 years. Any ideas on the difference if any?

Looks like one is the "ecommerce" edition, whatever that means.

If you ever want to upgrade to the IC60 you would have less of a need to supplement with bleach.

Ecommerce (EC) products: Products purchased from an Authorized Pentair Online Reseller (products beginning with EC-) receive a one (1) year (parts only) warranty from the date of purchase.

Pentair products that start with "EC" are covered under an extended E-Commerce warranty. The warranty is extended for DIY installations that normally only qualify for 60 days. E-commerce IntelliChlor units are covered for 2 years. Check out Pentair's warranty page.

Another difference to note between the types of warranties is the E-commerce warranty covers only parts past the initial 60-day warranty.

Hmm? Directly from the Pentair website, EC -E Commerce SKUs have a standard warranty. 2 years on SWG.

TradeGrade products must be purchased from a retail store (brick & mortar), pool builder or pool service company to receive a one-year, two-year or three-year warranty. If purchased online will only receive a sixty-day limited warranty. View the list of TradeGrade Products.

Ecommerce (EC) products: Products purchased from an Authorized Pentair Online Reseller (products beginning with EC-) receive a one (1) year (parts only) warranty from the date of purchase. The exceptions are: IntelliChlor cells and IntelliFlo SVRS pumps which receive a two (2) year warranty. EC products are not eligible for the bundled three (3) year extended warranty.


Comment on Leslie's: They are probably both an authorized retailer as well as online reseller so they are listing both versions. If you look at the "TradeGrade" one, it's more expensive but only available for store pickup. The EC product can be shipped or purchase online and eligible for store pick-up.

I don't know why you would buy the TradeGrade unless you are:
-1) in the store (EC products are online only)
or
-2) are buying several Pentair products at once and are eligible for the bundled 3 year extended warranty.
