I'm looking to change my pool light bulb. I've watched a half dozen diy videos on how to do it. But Ive never heard anything more than people saying, "turn off the breaker." Well, really. That's all? Something tells me that there's more to it than that. Should the pool heater be turned off? Pool motor? I have a circuit breaker that reads "pool light". Just turn that off and nothing else when changing a bulb? Dont mess with pool light transformer? Or anything else? Any other tips? Thanks

Should the pool heater be turned off?

No.

Pool motor?

No

I have a circuit breaker that reads "pool light". Just turn that off and nothing else when changing a bulb?

Correct.

Dont mess with pool light transformer?

The Pool Light CB should be feeding power to the transformer. Turn off the CB and no power to the transformer or light.

Or anything else? Any other tips? Thanks

What model pool light are we discussing?

If you have a transformer then it is a low voltage light.

What makes you think you have a replaceable bulb?

I have no idea what bulb I have. The pool was built in 2014. I recently bought the home. From previous owner records and manuals, the pool light came with a white bulb, (incandescent?) and later changed to an (led?) multi-color with remote control - I have no records. The bulb works but 2 of the 7 colors don't work. The blue color and purple do not light up. I want to take the fixture out to see what type of bulb it is and brand name. Then put it back in and order a bulb and replace at that time.

Check out Florida Sunseeker for replacements. I bought a replacement halogen kit and it worked out great, but the led would be a better upgrade.

Also check the condition of your wiring - you probably have a transformer that converts to low voltage for the pool light. The wires on mine were corroded so I fixed that. If you're not skilled, get an electrician to help you out. And you should always replace the gasket when you replace the bulb.
