RenuKrete experiences?

Looking for input from folks that may have had their new or older concrete pool deck resurfaced by RenuKrete. Especially interested in anyone who has had it at least 5+ years (the longer the better ;-) )

• How many years have you had it and how do you feel it has it held up? (Color or otherwise)
• Did you have it applied to relatively new concrete (~6-12 months after pour cure) or to revitalize an old concrete deck? (80% of my deck is 30+ years old)
• If you had cracks address by the installation process have they re-appeared? (If so, have you had them addressed by the company or in some other way?)
• Do you find it needs to be cleaned as frequently as plain concrete? (I would need to wash my concrete every 1-2 years to keep it relatively clean looking)
• If you have cleaned it, have you used their brush-on cleaner product or other? Can you power wash it safely?
• (For longer term owners) Have you had the guard coat re-applied since it was first done? (How much did that cost relevant to sq/ft of surface?)
• Any other comments or observations?

I appreciate the attempt. I suspect this hasn't reached the perfect convergence of frequent TFP forums users and all the folks out there with the product. I did get one response to another thread last year from someone with a new install but I was specifically looking for any long term owners. While I understand it's a popular product, perhaps they haven't been around long enough for "long term".

Not familiar with Renucrete specifically. But I've never see ANY concrete resurfacing product that was worth anything!

Ok, I'll bite. Can you be a little more specific? As in, do you really mean ANY or specifically coatings, stamping, or dying/coloring (which is a part of RenuKrete's approach).

I too am wary of coatings (anything rolled or sprayed on as an overlay). Stamping seems to have been around for quite awhile now (over a decade) but of the more expensive options. And coloring seems to be the less problematic if your existing concrete is in good condition (because it's not an overlay).

Any insight you have to share from experience, I'd appreciate.

Based on family/neighbors' experiences resurfacing concrete decks, walkways and driveways. Half a dozen in all. All failed within a couple of years and, of course, the companies were all out of business so the "20 year warranties" were worthless. None of them were dying/coloring - all 1/4" to 1/2" coatings. All of them cracked at the original crack points with a couple of months and all chipped/delaminated within a couple of years.
I had my 20 year old cracked driveway dug out and replaced rather than any form of coating. Our concrete pool deck has cracks in it but it was re-inforced with 1/2" rebar and 1/4" mesh so there aren't any tripping hazards.

I appreciate your insights. And I hadn't thought about it before your comment but that may explain why I have a number of cracks but no "heaving" (the rebar largely keeps everything in place).

Just curious, did you decide to have rebar added to your concrete driveway or was it too expensive to consider? (Or do driveway pours always have rebar, unlike general sidewalks, for example.)

No, we had a fiber additive for the driveway concrete, which was supposed to be as good as rebar...... right!
And no, most driveways don't have rebar (maybe they should).
