Hello all,
I have the Raypak 8450TI-E. The heater is 6 years old. The issue I am experiencing is when the heater will automatically go into Comp. Start Delay when there is a heat demand. After 5 min the compressor will attempt to start for 2-3 seconds the go back to Comp. Start Delay. I changed the capacitor yesterday and no luck.
This issues started 2 days ago when I saw a high pressure prompt and now it continuously goes into Comp. Start Delay. Any trouble shooting advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Derek

If you have an EPA 608 certificate and the proper gauges then check the refrigerant pressures.

Otherwise call an HVAC service to check the refrigerant pressures.

Regarding the high-pressure trip/lockout, the water flowing through the heat pump from your pool is what reduces both the pressure and temperature of the discharge gas from your compressor and causes it to condense into a liquid transferring the heat to your pool water. Low water flow from a dirty filter or incorrectly set water valves would be the most likely cause as the refrigerant side of the system is sealed and loss of refrigerant would result in lower pressures/temperatures rather than higher pressures.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have set my variable speed pump to 3000 rpm. In the past the heater would function correctly around 1200. I will clean the filter today and let you know what happens. I did clean the radiator yesterday. I do bypass the heater and drain some of the water out when not in use, I hope that didn't allow for calcium build up somewhere in the internals.
** filter cleaned. Right at about 2 min the compressor shuts off.
