raypak 106 propane pool heater

You have a long line from the tank to the heater. Every time you try and start the heater you purge a bit of air. It may take a lot of start attempts until the gas slowly pushes the air out of the line. There may be other ways of doing it but repeated starts is safe.

thanks for your advice and help so if understand you keep firing heater and eventually it will purge line

Be careful. Propane is heavier then air and can pool and not disperse easily.
just wanted to thank everyone who offered advice i was finally able to get my pool heater to fire and heat again just wanted to thank everybody for there input hope we all have a great pool season
