PVB backflow preventer leak and pool draining

Pool was completed 15 months ago. I noticed the leak recently and very high water bill the last two months. Shut the pipe off a few days ago until I could get someone to fix it and noticed the pool is losing about an inch of water every 12 hours. No visible leaks in the yard other than the pipe. Is the leak at the PVB causing the water to drop?

I think it is more likely that your autofill, which the BFP feeds, is filling your pool due to your leak.

Water will not flow from the pool to leak out the BFP.

I noticed the leak recently

The leak at your PVB looks very small. The internal components of your PVB can be replaced easily.

Is the leak at the PVB causing the water to drop?

Probably not.

The autofill is just running to refill the pool due to a leak somewhere.

You can start with a physical inspection of the pool and dye testing or you can start by pressure testing the plumbing.

For deeper dye testing, you might need a diver.
