so I am opening my pool and it is full of algae i was wondering if i could put in algae eating fish for a week or so in the pool and then start the slam process?is this crazy?why?
Fish don't just make algae disappear. They eat it and then they expel the waste. Then you have an ammonia problem, which takes chlorine to fix. And in that time more algae will have grown than been eaten, so your problem will have gotten worse.
They wouldn’t be able to clear all that algae. They would probably die in a few days anyway, they need very specific water conditions to survive, which varies by species. Also as someone who has kept about every type of fish tank at one point or another, I have never come across an algae eater that could even keep a 55 gallon aquarium free of algae.
