Pump/filter manufacture date??

I bought a house with a pool 5 years ago, and we’re having sump pump and filter issues and need to decide between repairing or replacing, but we can’t find any dates to know how old the pump and filter are. The literature we have is from the 80’s, but for all I know Hayward is still using literature from the 80s. We have a Hayward Perflex Filter III and a Hayward super pump. Anyone know how to find the dates?

The motor is very old but I don't see a date code. What's the pump model and serial number?

Is the equipment inside a room?

Is there a serial number on the motor?

The motor has to be before 1993.

In 1993, the name was changed to Magnetek Century.

Century Electric acquired a business from Gould Inc. (“Gould”) in May 1983. Magnetek purchased Century Electric, Inc. (“Century Electric”) in 1986.

I think that it's likely that the motor is from the 1980s. It has to be inside to be that old. A motor outside wouldn't last that long.

Edit: The serial number is Z2, which means February 1982.

By the late 1970s they were owned by Gould Inc., and motors were labeled "Gould/Century". By 1993 the name was Magnetek Century Electric, Inc

Wow, thanks for that info! It’s actually outside by the pool, so I guess I can’t conplain that it’s leaking now, and it probably isn’t worth repairing. 36 year old pump! Wow.
