Poop in Hot Tub

Hey everyone! My son pooped in his swim diaper today in the hot tub with the Jets on. Needless to say not much stayed in the diaper. There were 3 other kids 5-8 years old in the poop water too. I would say they played for about a total of 45 minutes before I realized the water was brown. Test results immediately prior to them getting in was:

5 FC
.5 CC
30 CYA
7.5 PH
50 TA
1500 SALT
97.0 Temp
270 Gal

First, I am wondering what if anything should I be thinking about for the kids health? I showered them and disinfected their suits.

Second, I want to make sure the hot tub is fully disenfected. I immediately added about 1/2 Gallon of bleach to the point where the powder was bleaching out. Next I ran with Ahh-some for about 45 min and put the filter in a bucket of TSP. The water is draining, but there is a lot of particulate.
Plan going forward is to soft scrub and bleach spray and run fresh water until it all seems clean. Is this a good course of action?

Maybe just need someone to talk me of the ledge ; )

Sounds like you are on top of it. I might fill it again just above the jets and do a second Ahh-some treatment or a second high chlorine rinse, drain and you should be ready for the final fill.

That is what I did. It was obvious from the first refill that it needed a second round. I drained it again and, unfortunately, it is at a vacation home, so I won't be able to get to it until next weekend. A little sunshine won't hurt anything. So gross...

The house is near you too Tim, just south of Clayton in Lakemont. I need somebody who gets TFP to look after it occasionally if you know anyone who works the area. Thanks again for the advice!

Nice area. I drove past there yesterday headed down to Publix in Gainsville (needed a birthday cake) and Costco at the Mall of Georgia.

Hello Smithlevison: You did the right protocol. Two purges after the incident was probably unnecessary as one would have done the job. It sounds like you may have had additional bio-buildup besides what was added recently from the diaper incident.
