Is there a brand/model of pool vacuum that works especially well on dust/sediment that is pretty small particles? it’s heavy enough to settle before it gets circulated to our filter.

A quality robot with a fine pleated filter will pick up anything in the pool. A Maytronics S200 or equivalent.

Almost all of the Maytronics robots can use a plastic mesh filter or a pleated filter. Some of center basket models you can use the pleated filters but also install a "prefilter" so that the leaves and big stuff does not hit the pleated filter. This is what I have with my Triton PS Plus. I had to buy it. I think the higher S and M series come with the prefilter as part of the deal. I bought it for $40 on Amazon.

With the pleated filter, it picks up VERY fine dust from the bottom of the pool.

Thank you for the info! I’m not sure what you mean by “center basket model”, We ended up going with this one, could we do a pre-filter with that?
