Another +1 for Arlo. (Although there's a new brand Eufy Evercam that I would also consider.) Great to have a completely wireless system - means you can mount camera literally anywhere with no worries. Does have ability to notify you (however you wish) based on sound or motion.
We have one pointed at our currently under construction pool. I have it set to email me if it detects motion because if there's work being done that our contractor failed to notify us about I want to know. We'll probably keep it there to monitor the pool when we're not home and especially because we have a dog.
Great deal on Arlo 3-4 camera system from Coscto. The other one - Eufy - is a solid company and their batteries should last significantly longer than Arlo, so might want to consider them - I believe right now they are only available through kickstarter campaign.
