Pool Safety Fence - Protect-A-Child, Pool Guard, Baby Barrier, etc

Hi, we're in Tampa and are looking to put a pool safety fence to keep the kids out. We want the typical black mesh fence. It seems that there are a handful of national companies in the industry -- Protect-A-Child, Pool Guard, Baby Barrier, Life Saver, and Baby Guard -- and they have local dealers who install their product.

I got quotes from all these companies. The prices are all within a close range. Their products all look pretty much the same. They all say they're made in USA.

My concern is design/safety. It's VERY hard for me to know the difference between their products. They all say their product is the best and safest for this and that reason. For example, Protect-A-Child is the only one to use fiberglass, and they say fiberglass is the best. One company said they use "ultra clear mesh" and another uses "marine grade mesh." I have no idea what to believe and what the real differences are. Can someone with knowledge advise as to the differences between these companies and which is the "best" product? Sales and marketing is always gonna do their thing. If you saw all the samples and they all seemed similar, then there you go. I'd be ok using any national product. An unknown local company would have to really be compelling to make me gamble.

Thanks so much. The only difference I detect is the fiberglass of Protect-A-Child, and the rest are aluminum. That's obviously a big difference. Any thoughts on aluminum vs fiberglass in terms of safety and how good it will look after several years?

I've seen both last and both weather after one season. (Different applications but a quality/crud pole is a quality/crud pole). I think both would be fine for safety and the only question is how well does manufacturer X hold up to the elements. Hang tight and maybe someone has specific brand experience that they can share.

I personally don't like the mesh fence that's right up against the pool coping. To me that's a danger if a kid would climb over wouldn't have a chance not to end up in the water.

No matter what fence you get, never ever leave your kid out there unsupervised. Fences get damaged, locks get left open, all kinds of other ways for unsupervised kids to find water.

One more piece of advice, I do the following with every pool I service which is, I recommended and order a 3'x3' sign with the family name, address and phone number in large print and is placed in full view in case of emergency. When something catastrophic happens at the pool, guests, friends or whomever just blank out and can't remember where they are ........this can be the difference of life and death.

There's a private volunteer ambulance corp here locally that a couple of years back experienced several poolside emergency calls from cell phones which didn't trace back to an address on the 911 system and precious time was lost as the callers had a hard time knowing the address either as they were guests or simply due to the emergency couldn't think clearly to give the correct address. Since the initiative with the signage, this problem is almost non existent. I order through this ambulance corp which is free but it's always an exchange with a donation.
The sign is as I said 2'X3', bold large lettering, printed on corrugated pvc. Any small sign shop can make it.
