Pool light replacement screw

How much too short?
Did you remove the washer, put the screw in the light housing and put the washer on the back side of the housing first before screwing into the niche?

On your light, is there anything identifying manufacturer and model number?

I would have to pull it back out. I believe it said Pentair.

The screw I ordered, according to the eBay listing, is the correct screw. I pulled the light and tried again, and I just can’t get it to thread. As of now, I have a metal screw of some cheap grade, rusting away. Is there a screw I should purchase at the local hardware that would be just as good as this one I can’t get to work?

If you can find a brass or stainless steel screw with the proper threads, I believe that would work.

Does the one you bought screw into the niche easily without the light housing in it? If so, use that as a sample to match the threads - just get one that's longer.

Yes, it screws in fine w/o the light. The light appears to be flush with the mounting surface, so I don’t know what’s going on. I was just asking you guys in hopes that I wasn’t the only one who had experienced this issue.
