Forgot the hose in, we are about 1-2 inches above where we should be and fully submerged skimmer baskets. Do I need to empty or just let it as level will go down with evaporation and use(kids jumping in and splashing )

It is probably ok.

How much gap between the water level and the bottom of your coping?

Is the water up to the top of the skimmer mouth?

Pictures might help. Although it’s tough to see the skimmer basket. We are expecting rain overnight so I am a bit worried!

Nice to see a fellow St. Louisan here. If you‘ve got open space in the skimmer throat (1/4 to 1/2 inch minimum) you should be fine to leave it to evaporation/ splash out given your pool type. AG, liner, etc would be a bit different story. If your skimmer throat is fully submerged then definitely drain it back as this will prevent the skimmer from functioning properly.

just saw your pictures, drain it down.

Thank you! Scared to take out the drain plug as I’ve never put it in myself! Also not really sure where it drains to!
Will use a few buckets and water the lawn..good for it in the hot temp we’ve had! We are also down to no chlorine so should be ok I guess.

Yikes! "down to no chlorine" is much worse than too much water. Do you plan to put some chlorine in?
Yes we had a pool party last weekend so wondering if that caused chlorine to drop from 1 to 0. We do have a salt generator. Put a puck in the skimmer and also one pack of H2H shock. Will run a test again tomorrow..
