Pool guy says I need a new pool heater, Hayward H400FDN

I also heard that it may in fact cause condensation actually making the situation you are trying to avoid worse. Who the heck knows...Darn if you do, Darn if you don't. I never thought about accidental turn ons though
What you really need to cover is the display board area where the keypad is located.

What do you use to cover it? Tarp?
I made a custom cover out of a tarp, just folding a tarp and covering the unit will work if it's weighed down enough to stay put.

This CE error doesn't necessarily have to be a board prblm it can be a partially oxidized connector. Clean as necessary and cover the unit and problem soved.

Covering your heater will actually make it worse without air to dry things out. For critters I use moth balls all over under the heater jacket, not very pleasant so they stay out.
I think I will replace the display part ($46-$85) which comes with a new seal and takes 5 min to install based on some reviews. I'll wait to see what happens when I fire it up in the Spring then proceed accordingly. The display looks faded as heck anyway but rigging some sort of cover for the display is only beneficial.
