I built a pool equipment enclosure from cider wood. I also have a gas heater in there. There is currently no roof. I would like some portable light roof to protect against sun/rain. I was thinking of putting rigid styrofoam amd securing it so it's easy to take off when runing heater. Any ideas? I don't want wood cause it's heavy 20220518_205450.jpg

I built an enclosure to match my privacy fence, I used Ondura asphalt panels from Lowes for the permanent roof. It comes in different colors. It is very lightweight and flexible, but is strong once attached. It keeps my equipment out of the elements and I also hang my robot in there. I left one side open so it’s easy to get in and out of there. It’s tons of storage room too, we throw our big floats and lounge cushions in there. It helps muffle the sound from the pool pump too. I built a big mower shed in another corner of my privacy fence using the same supplies, it blends in so well that most people don’t realize it’s even there.

Just be wary of your heater exhaust it produces a lot of heat. It also needs good airflow for the intake as well. I would not go with Styrofoam Apsuhead's solution is a good one.

And moisture as well. You'll have water dripping from whatever roof panels you use. I would not put any kind of solid type roof on it as you will likely not meet the heater manufacturer's install instructions for clearances at that point, unless you duct the heater exhaust through the side of the fence.
