Polaris Alpha IQ+ robot first impressions

For those interested in the whole pool robot thing, I recently took the plunge and bought a Polaris Alpha IQ+. Easy setup and does a fantastic job compared to the Polaris 280 the pool came with. It is ridiculously expensive and for the price I should not have had to buy the fine mesh filter to go with the one it came with. But did come with three year warranty. We will see how long it lasts

I had 2 i300s that each lasted less than 3 years. Hope your luck is better. I'm back to a Polaris 280.

I just purchased $50 in repair parts for my 280 (now 15 yrs old), like @Newdude I am not convinced yet to go to a robot with a cable. I guess I am still holding out for a great cableless robot.

With a three year warranty and local repair shop, I have my fingers crossed. Night and day better job cleaning that the 280, but definitely a cost/benefit analysis involved here. The sales guy said the next thing coming is a cleaner that skims the surface to get leaves and then periodically dives and cleans. I'm guessing that would at least be rechargeable but who knows!

Well that is interesting because there exists a solar powered skimmer robot. They have mixed reviews - search the forum.
Appears Polaris is trying to create a hybrid for functionality and hopefully will be solar charged while on surface. I do hope they have plug in charging as a backup as that is a lesson being learned on the dedicated solar skimmers. some cloudy days and there is no juice to even skim.
