Any input on plaster and filling in colder temps? We are in Austin and are scheduled for plaster next week (Feb. 8). Though the ice we're currently experiencing will be thawed by then, nighttime lows are forecasted in the mid- to upper-30s though daytime highs in the high-50s/low-60s. Should we be holding off a bit longer on plaster and filling the pool due to this kind of weather? There's really no rush as--even with the heater--I don't see us getting in the pool this month! Would appreciate any feedback/experience on this topic.

Wait until the temperature is above 50F for plastering. Otherwise the plasterer will likely add more calcium chloride to the mix which can lead to mottling.

Or have the pool tented and heaters placed inside.

That was discussed a bit in this thread.

We are right there with you and patiently waiting in Argyle TX (just North of Fort Worth) for warm weather so plaster can be done. Thankfully our builder is in regular communication with us - and we are fine to wait. Everything else is completed.

Okay that's good to know. We are with BYOP and just talked to our rep who said the same - no harm in waiting to plaster. Out of curiosity, how long are you waiting? We were thinking of pushing til Feb. 28 by which time we should have some consistently warmer weather.

Chatted with our builder last night and suspect we are likely looking at late February as well since all of next week has temps well below freezing overnight. He shared a story of a client that didnt want to wait - and the plaster company that wanted to get it done - and they did - only to have it freeze and crack before fill was completed. Not something I want, so I'm absolutely fine with waiting. Even with our spa, I doubt I'd want tp pay to heat and use right now anyways!
