Pivot Solar Breeze Out Of Business

My Arial crapped out on me earlier this year and it was still under warranty. They offered to send me a refurbished unit or if I didn't mind waiting until April they would send me a new 2024 unit. Well April passed and last week I received a unit from them. The new unit looked identical in every way to the old unit. I looked at the model number on the two units and the new unit had a lower serial number than the old one. This prompted me to send them an email and ask why. I got a response saying the unit I got was not a 2024 model but a refurbished model. Paul Sim sent the following "Pivot International, our parent company, has recently sold the product-related assets of Pivot-Solar Breeze to a pool product manufacturer. As a result of this sale, the production and manufacturing of the Ariel solar-powered robotic pool cleaner has been terminated". There product and customer service has been the worst and I'm not sorry to see them go.

I am not happy at their demise. Ultimately a company that goes of business hurts its employees, and its customers. It’s a little bit sad, especially since they were the first. Over the years, I have probably owned 3 or 4 of the products (pretty much every one they ever built). However, they made an inferior product. The Ariel was the last straw for me. It provided 3 hours of battery life when 10 was promised. Its failure rate was also extremely high. So much so that it generally built a mistrust of all robot surface skimmers. Actually my Betta has failed twice in the two years I have owned it but it just seems more reliable. Anyway this is why I advocate for everyone to buy the longest warranty they can for one of these.

Well I am sorry for everyone that owns one, and for them and their employees, but this is the circle of life with capitalism.

BTW. Let this be a cautionary tale to Maytronics. The parallels are striking similar. A lack of innovation, products that fail prematurely early, and customer service that is hard to deal with. Being a first mover and having a big lead is not enough anymore.

Oof! I had several of these on long warranties. They were responsive when responsive but they sometimes really dropped the ball. I later understood that they are a family-owned business and they had some hardship that they were dealing with (maybe a death or illness in the family?). There was a long period at the start of one of the pool seasons (the worst time) when they were completely unresponsive while they were dealing with this. When they got back in the office, they were awesome. My current Ariel barely runs in winter but runs over 12 hours in summer. Unfortunately the front paddle has died. It’s still cleaning somewhat but I went to the website looking for warranty support today and got presented with the message above.

My 2nd Ariel is working but my Skimbot just died 1 well before a year. It sucks that they went out of business with no attempt to help those who supported them. Ariel has been priceless when it comes to keeping my pool leaf-free so I'll start looking for a different brand or a clearance Ariel.
