Pentair panel and pump programming ?

There may be a good reason for current setup but I am asking as it doesn't seem right to me. This is my first year so what do I know. PB set it up.

To use my scheduled low speed setting which runs 22 hours a day it is set to POOL.
To use HIGH SPEED and CLEANER I have to switch Valve to SPA and then F Circuits to select.
If I want to use heater/chiller this is also on the SPA setting.

Is there a good reason for having it setup this way? I don't have a SPA? I've looked for videos explaining the programming but not much there.

I hope this makes sense as I am still a newb.

I can't think of a good reason unless you have the PLS4 which is a 'Lite' version of the EasyTouch and only has 4 possible programs...

You have an IntelliFlo pump, so you should have the ability to have a number of pumps speeds, not just High and Low..

On the surface, it sounds as if your PB has no clue how to program your ET...

Do you have ScreenLogic, which allows you to control your pool from your PC, tablet, or phone?

Tell us more... What schedules does your pool currently run? If any?

What do the Aux buttons currently do?

I have the PL4/PLS4.
I run the pool 1200rpm from 3:30am - 1:00am.


Manual Settings
High Speed 2800
CLEANER 3450
I use cleaner or high speed when we use the pool.

The aux butons are set to 1 Pump 2 Lights 3 External Power 4 Heater

I was wrong about switching to spa mode for high speed or cleaner to work they work without me switching. If I want the heat pump\chiller to work I do have to hit valve V button and turn it on.

Well, your PB should be shot for selling you a lite version of the ET.. That said, I can now understand why they are using the Spa mode because of the laminations of the lite unit. They are just using Spa mode as a way to have an extra push button.

I would never suggest that you run the pump at 3450 and there is really no need to run it that fast when swimming. I would limit the high speed to 3000, if for no other reason than to save on your electric bill.

Most lite version units come with ScreenLogic which means you could just use your PC or phone instead of the button on the panel... If you had ScreenLogic they could do away with having to go into the spa mode.

Actually they just gave me the panel it isn't in any of my invoices. I'm not gonna get too mad. I'm glad there was a reason though.

At 3450 it almost turns my pool into a lazy rive LOL... Since running the pool equipment our utility bills have only gone up 15-20%. We consider that a win. I'll just use high speed when we use it from now on instead of cleaner.

Next year I plan on making a few upgrades.
1. Screenlogic
2. Intellichlor
3. Robot vaccum

I have mostly been landscaping my brains out since the pool work demolished my backyard lol....
