I have a intellechlor IC40 salt cell blinking to inspect cell. I had this cell sitting in a covered shelf inside over the winter so I’d get more use out of it…..I swear :(

This is my 2nd cell since 2014. First one lasted 5 years without removing it for the winter. This 2nd one was replaced in spring 2019. Here we are exactly 5yrs later and same thing. Makes me wonder, once activated if the clock ticks for 5yrs no matter if it’s in use or not 💰 This must be a conspiracy theory.

What can I try to resolve this without spending another $600 for a cell?

Depending on pool volume and how you treat the cell during operation it may be that is the life you get. Tell some more about our pool and equipment, along with how you test your pool water chemistry, by filling out your signature.

If you can get an IC40 for $600, let me know where. I will buy a few hundred.

Check Amazon and eBay for new ones with warranty.

M l. It Well good news (it’s been an hour so far) I think it’s fixed. Checked the thermal sensor and its reading 100 degrees which the pool currently is 61 degrees. Disconnected the thermal sensor and we are good to go. Light quit blinking. We’ll see if it last.

I wonder if cleaning the cell diluted Muriatic Acid is causing the issue and killing the sensor……I still have my old sensor with the same issue. 🤔

With proper chemistry management you should never have to use acid on your cell. Each time you do, you decrease its life.

I have had an IC40 for 9 years. I have never cleaned them with acid.

If you get scale buildup, use cleaning vinegar if necessary.
