Pentair Filter tore and pool lost 70 percent water night

While the pump was running.
Is it possible someone came and cut it off? Or does water pressure can do that. It is so symmetric cut. Unbelievable.

Put water in the pool.

Replace the filter.

Perhaps the clamp wasn't for this filter but worked until the clamp broke through the shell. As was said before me it's new filter time.

Pentair FNS48. Looks like the correct clamp for the older style filter. How was the clamp tightened? What procedure was used? How tight are the coils touching in the spring?

The clamp is supposed to be tightened until the coils are just touching, using a deadblow around the circumference of the clamp while tightening to ensure even clamping force. I’d postulate the clamp was overtightened, or not tightened evenly, cracking the shell……which over time ultimately gave up. Just my guess.

We know this for sure, it’s new filter time.

After cleaning filter in three days I lost 2 ft of water right below cleaner and far below jets and skimmers

I have been maintaining my pool for the past couple of years. I cleaned the PEntair DE filter and put the hood and tightente the screw. Added DE. After that I didn't check on how the pool is doing for two days. I saw the water level go down. I turned of the pump from iaqualink. But next...

Based on how dirty the water is, the filter was probably fully clogged.

2,350............17
1,500............7

With a crack, it was only a matter of time before the crack propagated and the top blew off.

Even at less than full speed, the pressure is enough to cause catastrophic failure.

That's about 16 psi.

That's about 7,238 lbs of force lifting the top.

It was just sitting in it's place but just the water was flowing from one side. I moved it little but to show the rupture photos.

Maybe consider going to a big cartridge filter.

Could it be vandalism? Couple of weeks back filter was cleaned by someone from loan star pool cleaning guy. He only fixed the clamp.

The clamp i replaced last year off of amazon when the old clamp threads were gone.

The filter seems to be older than 12 years based on the condition.

Maybe really bad chemistry contributed to aging.

Maybe excessive clamp tension.

Maybe excessive pressure and high pressure cycling.

Priming can be at 3,450 rpm unless you reduce priming speed or turn off priming.

Limit pump speed to 2,400 rpm in the settings.
