Pentair Easytouch 8 - Extra AUX Install

Seasons Greetings,

Last year I had new equipment installed, and with that was a Pentair ET8. Now I am doing light and found I do not have enough Circuits to setup my controls the way I want them. Builder is not much help now the check is cleared.

I understand I can ADD an EXTRA AUX to the system, from what I understand is there for SOLAR equipment if needed, making the ET8 able to manage on timers 9 Circuits. So that would give me the needed circuit I need to setup the way I want things.

So the questions are now:

Which Relay unit do I buy - Pentair 520106 ?
And how do I connect that to the Mother board itself after its mounted? (I found where it get mounted on the control box)
After I connect it and wired (using Electrician) in a line running to a plug box to connect a Low Voltage Lighting Transformer, is there any program I need to do in the control Box (I know how to assign a name and circuit using the Pentair Screen Logic Software, and program that on the using the software) ?

Welcome to TFP... A Great pool resource..

Well, if you have Screen Logic and can add a circuit, then the rest is easy..

Buy the Pentair 520106 relay because it mounts easy and comes with the two pin cable. Yes, it costs more, but well worth the extra cost for easy of installation.

Plug the two pin cable from your new relay into port J17 (Solar plug).

Set up Screen Logic. Pushing the "AuxEx" icon will turn on the relay.

Right here... Pretty clearly marked. Says "Solar" on one side and "J17" on the other..

Jim - the 520106 part sells from various people on Amazon for $18 and on line from $64/85 buck. If its new part, the $18 unit vs the same higher ones shouldn't matter ? Or am I missing something here with the parts? Both are Pentair, just a huge wing in pricing.. Thanks..

As long as it is new and not used, it should not make a difference as long as it is the same Pentair Part Number..

Thanks for this info, exactly what I needed to know to add a relay. One question.....I assume to turn on the relay that is hooked to J17 I would hit the "Solar" button on the panel (or program using Screen Logic)?

In ScreenLogic it is the "Aux Extra" circuit.. I have not touched a button on my main panel since I installed ScreenLogic, so can't say about the solar button.

That's correct. Its the solar button that activates it.

Jim,
Hoping you can help solve my problem. I added relay as described above, hooked it to J17, powered it with 110V from breaker. Went to SL Config and had it tied to Aux Extra, however it is not turning on. I dont hear the click at the relay like the pool lights when they are turned on. I am thinking either bad relay or not setup on SL Config correctly.

What happens when you push the Solar button in the panel?

You have the Function set up as a "Light".. I suggest you change it to "Generic" and I'll bet it will work.

Switched to Generic and still not getting the relay to turn on the lights. The solar light on the panel turns on but the relay does not click. I will swap out with the pool light relay and see if the relay might be bad.

Sounds like a bad relay

It was a bad relay (wire). Replaced it and it works perfect.
