Hello!
My pool pump stopped working around 5pm last night and won't respond to the app to turn pool mode on. I tried to manually do it as well with no luck. Reset, turned it on and off at the breakers, nothing. I have an error that says pool err and self diagnostics says error 4. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this?

Sil,

What kind of pump do you have?

Have your reset the circuit breakers in the bottom of the EasyTouch as well as the house circuit breaker that is feeding the EasyTouch?

Have you pushed the "reset" button on the main panel. (This is just like rebooting your PC).

Using the main panel, put the EasyTouch in AUTO and Pool mode.. Wait about a minute and then go look at your pump and see if the display shows "Display Not Active".

Tell us what you find.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim!

Yes, I hit the reset on the control panel a few times, turned on and off the circuit breakers and ran self diagnostics which gave me "fail error 4" and the control panel says pool err. I have a 3HP VS superflo pump, pentair easytouch panel ic40 salt, aquacal tropical t135 heater.

Any other suggestions?

s,

Did you do this? " Using the main panel, put the EasyTouch in AUTO and Pool mode.. Wait about a minute and then go look at your pump and see if the display shows "Display Not Active".

Error code 4 is "buttons". So it is possible that one of the buttons is stuck closed. But I doubt that is your problem with the pump.

The first thing we need to do is see if your com port is working. That is what the above test will tell us.. What does you pump's display show?

Thanks,

Jim R.

This is what it says after I followed your instructions above (see picture).
Pool mode is no longer controlled by the app. The blower, lights seem to respond still.

The photo suggests to me that the water temperature sensor is disconnected or defective. That should not result in your pump turning off. What you are reading as "pool err" really means the system is in Pool Mode and there was an error reading the water temperature.

Go into the Diagnostics menu and see what it says for air, water (and solar if you have it) temperatures.

The Error 4 is Buttons, as Jim said. You could have a bad panel or just a stuck button.

Air says 88. Water says err. I don't have solar

The connection between the pump and Easytouch is faulty. Check the RS485 cable and connections.

S,

You have lost your com port, but not sure yet why.

I suggest that you swap the air and water sensor wires where they attach to the main board. I seem to remember if the water senser thinks the water is too hot or cold it can shut things down. Swap the air and water sensor wires and see what happens.

The next thing to do would be to disconnect anything connected to the com port other than the IntelliFlo. With just the IntelliFlo connected to the main board, if the pump does not say, "Display not Active" then most likely the main board is bad.

I'd try the temp sensors first and see what happens.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Both my communication cable for the pentair superflo vs and the aquacal temperature cable have been cut. That is why it hasn't been working. Is this something that I can fix myself? How do I figure out what cables to order?
