Im comparing both of these and im trying to figure out if the RP is a better choice. The RP states that it provides nearly 50% more efficiency. I am wondering how true that is. Also the 150 vs 200 looks to be exactly the same so I dont know how they come up with their math.

TSC,

Those are both single cartridge filters and pretty small ones... The bigger the filter the less often you have to clean it..

I have a CCP-520 and could go a year between cleanings, but clean it twice a year any way. When running my normal speed of 1200 RPM, my filter pressure is only about 1 or 2 lbs..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Would that be overkill for my 14k gallon pool?

TSC,

Probably... but other than cost there is no downside to going too big.

How about entering your pool's signature so that we all know what you have... See mine for an example.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hey Jim,

I will update my specs. I think my pool is a 14k gallon no 8k as I mentioned. How do I go about finding out my exact gallons?

Start with...

Calculators - Estimating Pool Water Gallons

If you need to get an estimate of the amount of water in your pool you can use the calculator at the bottom of the old Pool math web page. You simply enter the pool dimensions and average depth and it gives you the gallons of water int he pool.

Pentair has a Pool Volume Calculator that lets you select from rectangular, oblong, round, and triangle shapes.

I have this pool.

They look to be exactly the same but one is 7600 gallons and the other is 13700 gallons. The calculator says 17800 gallons but that wouldnt count for the ledges and those 2 seats in the deepend.

See what the effect of adding chemicals is. Use PoolMath to calculate the chemical dose based on 7,600 gallons. Measure the dose accurately. Test 30 minutes to an hour after adding the chemical. If you get the result PoolMath predicts then you are around 7,600 gallons. If you get half the result or less then you are more like 14,000 gallons.

You can back into your water volume based on the effect of adding chemicals over time.

I was able to figure it out. I looked back on my pool contract paperwork and it stated it ther
