Hi everyone. Gunite pool just had pebble tech installed yesterday and an acid wash today. Tonight the filled with water and Pool firm said it now needs to sit for 10 days. After which we can turn on the filters and start running it. What’s it doing for 10 days? He said it’s neutralizing the acid or something but I didn’t understand.

@CPinOaktonVA , did you look at the PebbleTec startup guides that @ajw22 conveniently provided links to? Letting the pool sit without circulation, chemicals, and brushing is the exact opposite of what PebbleTec says to do.
Once the pool is full, turn on the pool equipment and circulate the water continuously for a minimum of five (5) days or until all white material (cement dust) has been removed, filtered out, and is no longer visible when the finish surface is brushed, whichever is longer.
Failing to follow PebbleTec's startup guide will void your warranty regardless of what the pool builder says.

My pool new pool will be plaster with pebble on the first and water fill on the 2nd after acid wash It will sit till the 5 due to holiday when equipment equipment will be turned on When I questioned contractor, he told me a few days to sit is fine. Also note i said pebble did not use tec. A lot of contractors are using similar product and have different start up instructions. Read your contract. My contract says pebble sheen not pebble tec When I checked with pool people around Las Vegas this is common for builders to use a similar product

Pebble tec and pebble sheen are from the same manufacturer. The startup guide is basically the same.

If they are going to acid wash and fill the pool, what is their reasoning not to turn on the circulation system?

Holiday weekend fill on night of second Contractor not available till the 5th

So the pool will be full and sit for 3 days - in the Vegas sun - without any circulation, chemiclas or brushing.
Personally, I'd have them delay the plaster install until 7/5 so they can do a proper startup in a timely fashion.

Nothing precludes brushing to keep the plaster dust from sticking to the walls while he is waiting the equipment to start running.

Most startup guides has only pH, TA, and CH adjustments for the first 2 days and chlorine added on Day 3. If the water pH is ok and Vegas has high CH water then the first few days the water will be close to the startup guide.

Many pools survive the startup being done much worse. If they get out there on the 5th and do thing right after that everything should be fine.

i have suggested waiting till after the 4th. but things are backed up here and could have to wait another month if i change it Pool was shot create in april. I waited over a month for deck concreate. want pool for summer so i guess i will do it his way if it's to my liking i will withhold last payment.

My main concern was no circulation to help filter out plaster dust. While brushing the walls and floor will help, the plaster dust will just resettle on the pool floor. Maybe that's not as big a deal as I thought...

To the OP - do you have one of the recommended testkits yet?
If so, test your fill water for pH, TA and CH. Being in Vegas, we already knkw your CH will probably be in the 200's.
And fill out your signature will pool, pool equipment (including manufacturers and model numbers) and test kit info.

I plan on brushing the walls after fill up. I again asked my contractor to send someone out to turn equipment on after fill up on saturday He stated it will be fine till tuesday Its not has simple as just turning the pump on the pool needs an entire set up to make sure everything is correct So i guess thats it he won't budge I am running a haywood omni pl system so he needs to set it up
