Pavers vs Concerete with Acrylic coating cost

Hello,

I have a quote (or actually ive been on the waiting list for a year already) with a quote. To add Pavers vs Concrete for 468 square feet pool deck - Gunite in Florida - it is being quoted as going to cost me $17,000 more to go with Pavers vs Concrete with Acrylic coating basically.

I think this does not add up somehow. Maybe thats just me

What would be a typical cost per sq feet for pavers vs concrete, or additional for Pavers that yall have experienced on your builds? Does this seem typical?

What is the underlayment for the pavers? Many builders do a concrete slab, topped with sand for leveling, then the pavers. So if the base is concrete - that would explain the cost difference. IE, concrete+sand+pavers versus concrete+coating.

I got pavers over concrete for $17 a foot last year. The cement crew didn't have to worry about unsightly but unstructural cracking so their labor was reduced. Then the paver crew showed up with a hard flat surface and also needed little prep, saving a ton of labor on that half too. In the end I got basically 2 patios for the cost of 1.

Same here with Travertine over concrete this year. Mine was a little cheaper, but that may be the Texas vs NY price difference. Either that or the builder made it up in other areas.
