Need help determining Union Nut size

The pool heater (Laars Lite 2) uses 2 aluminum tubes to connect to the PVC piping for the rest of the system. One of the black unions started leaking water, but I cannot determine what the appropriate size this would be to purchase a replacement. Can anyone advise? Unfortunately, I am not the original owner, so trying to work through stuff as it comes up.

The pvc piping is 1-1/4" diameter. Below are the dimensions of the nut:
1.9" ID Opening at top to fit 1-1/2" Sch 40 pipe
2-3/8" x 2.26" diameters on the threads to fit a 2" Sch 40 pipe.

Anything at local hardware stores seems come up empty for anything that matches both the thread size and the size of the opening for the part of the piping run. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Those are made specifically for pool equipment. There is a "split nut" that is available for repairs. That looks like it is 1.5".
There is also a 2" one. You also want to replace the O ring in that tailpiece.
Here is a link for Leslie's that carries them, but any pool supply should as well. Not something found in a hardware store.

You have stainless steel heat sinks.

The tubes go through the holes and the gasket is compressed.

You can use a CPVC nipple instead of the heat sinks.

5.5 Connections at Heater
The heater has 2" NPT universal header couplings.

You can connect threaded 2" NPT iron pipe or unthreaded 2" copper pipe using the seals included with this heater (see Figure 13).

Unthreaded 1 1/2" iron or copper pipe may be used with special seals available from your Jandy distributor.

However, by installing the appropriate pipe adapters, other sizes may also be used.

Plastic piping (PVC Schedule 40) can be connected to the heater if local codes allow it, by using the CPVC nipples included with your heater.

To install plastic piping (see Figure 14):

1. Remove CPVC nipples from plastic bag.

2. Screw CPVC nipples into metal flange until tight, using Teflon® tape on plastic threads.

3. Prepare the end of the pipe with the proper adapter, PVC/CPVC primer and glue.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions provided with the primer and glue for preparation procedures and
curing times

The flange is threaded and you can use a tube or a threaded fitting.

Your tube heat sinks look like 1.5" stainless steel.
