Need a new Spa cover.....Recommendations.

I ordered a cover from Hot Tub Works long ago. It held up for a quite a few years, but like all covers, eventually became waterlogged and the vinyl finally gave way at the seam. My new tub came from the factory (Bullfrog) with a fabric cover very similar looking to the one pictured in this thread:
Spa Cover Recommendations

When this cover gives up (it's already gaining weight), I might look at one of the rigid covers, like that from Leisure Concepts:
Smartop

Seems like a cover could be made to not absorb moisture in the foam core, as well as withstand Mother Nature a bit better.

Hey MK !! We have a guy...... @RDspaguy who has been repairing tubs for 25 years. I imagine he has opened a cover or two and probably has forgot more about them than I’ll ever know. Cheers.

Tagging along as I really need a new cover for ours before winter hits...I see steam leaking out when the wind blows as the cover is bowed and no longer sits (and seals) well.

I have installed several hard covers. I liked what I saw, but they were many times the cost of a standard cover back then.
Covers have moisture barriers on the foam, but chemical fumes break it down. Using low chlorine systems and leaving the cover open after adding chems will greatly prolong cover life.

Ordered my first cover a few weeks ago after doing many hours of research. The vinyl covers from all of the major companies that I found were pretty similar imo. Decided to go with one from America's Spa Mart. Was on the upper end of the price range, but the lead time seems to be much less than others. Also, I didn't see any complaints listed with the BBB. Went with the Deluxe & value max bundle.

I can’t remember if it was on this forum or a review but someone mentioned to unzip your new cover & check that it does indeed have the moisture barrier & that it’s not damaged/punctured. As apparently some were shipped without so it’s wise to check from the start. I thought it was a useful tip.
I also try to “sun” the underside my cover on a regular basis in hopes of prolonging it’s life as well as regularly using formula 303 on the outside of it. Mine is outside under the patio.

I have a fiberglass spa that spills into my vinyl pool. The cover was looking really bad so I began the arduous task of searching for a replacement. I needed a round cover about 100 inches across. The insulating foam comes in widths of 96 inches so anything over that doubles the price of a cover. I ordered from Affordable Spa Covers and I am satisfied. It took almost three months to get it but part of that is due to the current pandemic.

WOW! Got my cover today! Ordered it on 8/5 and it's now 9/11. May just be lucky because the company is in OH and I'm in PA. Even came on their own delivery truck! Still debating if I want to pull the cores all the way out. I only unzipped the ends and checked what I could and everything was fine.

I was the guy who started that thread about checking the wraps on your cores when you get a new cover. I highly recommend you pull your cores out all the way and check them. I did and found that the wraps on both my cores were cut with a razor and then hastily taped with one strand of 2" packing tape. I had a double wrap on my cores, both layers were cut on both cores. They only bothered to try and reseal the outer wrap with one strip of packing tape but they did it so shoddily that the tape strips had folds and wrinkles in them so they didn't even manage to seal off the cut in the one layer they bothered to tape up.

On the positive side, when I complained to the owner of the company and showed him pictures of what I'd found, he had them make new cores for me with double wraps and then shipped them out to me for free. I now have a back-up set of cores that I can use when this set gets saturated and heavy. ;)(y)
