Mustard algae -- SLAM before/during/after new robot?

Hi all, I'm in the south, so my pool has been open all winter. I have mustard algae that wasn't killed in my prior SLAM because I followed regular SLAM (didn't realize there was an extra mustard protocol).

My Polaris 280 also broke a couple weeks ago, so the pool hasn't been getting its daily brushing from the Polaris tail.

I'm using the dead Polaris as an opportunity to switch to a robot. I have the new robot in box, ready to deploy. I'm trying to decide whether to Mustard SLAM before putting in the new robot, vs. letting the robot scrub a few cycles before SLAMing, vs. putting the robot in the pool during the SLAM.

I can see benefits and drawbacks of each option. (Robot brushing may help kill the difficult algae, but algae may get inside the robot, and/or high chlorine may damage the robot).

Looking for advice. Thank you --

I would not hesitate to put the robot in during SLAM. SLAM FC is safe for people, pool and equipment.

I would take it out when you raise to Mustard level.

Regular slam is safe for you, and I don't know you and all, but the robot has thicker skin than you do. Just saying. 😁

And due to that super cool CYA stuff that the industry ignores, SLAM FC has less active HOCL (the harsh part) than tap water. Possibly a few times over. Think about that the next time you're hosing it off. It's worse than SLAM.
