Hello,

I'm looking for advices/suggestions to monitor autofill line in order to look for water leaks (if there are any). Based on related posts [1] (very useful), I found:
  1. The device Flume 2 Smart Home Water Monitor & Water Leak Detector is a popular option to monitor leaks, however:
    1. The app report leak for the autofill line and must include an automatic timer valve to enable the autofill in specific times
    2. The battery could be replaced due to damage (~6 months)
  2. The electronic valve to control the autofill valve is controlled (preferable) by the pool controller system (Intellicenter or Easy Touch)
  3. Users include an irrigation sprinkler valve to control the time when the autofill is enable. Some advices to include others protection devices in such configuration
  4. Nobody include a Flow Digital Display Meter in the autofill line
  5. Nobody include a Water Meter in the autofill line (similar to the one on the house)
I'm considering to include the Flume 2 to my setup, and looking for option regarding the control of the autofill line (if really required).

Are these options today still valid/suggested?

Thanks!

My setup involve an auto fill valve on the balance tank and another manual valve to enable/disable it. This manual valve is near from the pool controller (easy touch) but if cable is required, it must be installed by the wall/ceiling.

A bucket test as suggested on Leak Detection blog was performed during ~40 hours. It seems results shows similar water loss in and out of the bucket (at least visually).
Below the summary results (from left to right and top to bottom).

During the test the pump was off. The autofill was ON but as it is connected to the balance tank, its must not have any effect on the test, because the pump is not suctioning from the tank.

Following the monitoring of the auto fill line, I decided to install a water meter, in order to understand how much water is consume due to evaporation and check any leak. In the future a Flume 2 can be installed on it. in order to automate the reading and following of the autofill.
