Manual Vac Hose Recommendations

I've been unhappy with the quality of vacuum hoses I've purchased at Home Depot/Lowes etc. They tend to fail at the swivel end (cracks, breaks etc.). Pool store hoses don't seem much better (just more expensive).

I'm hoping to find something of higher quality. I've seen the i-Helix hose mentioned on TFP, but some reviewers on Amazon mentioned swivel end failures also. Anyone familiar with the Oreq Animal Pro MasterFlex Hose or have another recommendation for pool hoses?

I have a basic hydrotools/swimline hose. It still works just fine after 5 years- i do however use a robot most of the time so my hose isn’t heavily used.
@Texas Splash is a long time manual vac’er maybe he’s got a favorite hose to recommend.

Are you storing the hose outside in the sun? I've bought hoses from online pool stores. They'll last me 10 years or more. I stored the hose in a cabinet when not in use. At my new house, the hose is stored on a hook on a wood fence. That's the way I received it from the former owner. At 3 years of age, it's looking a bit worn, more than the 10+ year hose at the old house.

I store it outside, but its in a covered area w/no sun exposure. I've not had issues with the hose material, but rather the ends cracking (typically the swivel end that connects to the vacuum head). The last hose, the end just detached itself/broke.

I've been unhappy with anything pool related from the 2 above and Walmart......brushes, nets, vac accessories, etc. I bought a solid rubber brush from WM this year because it couldn't break and the rubber bristles were thick and wouldn't fall off. On its 2nd use, I noticed 2 screws missing that secured the head to the T on the handle. Instead of bristles it left screws in the (vinyl) pool.

I like my Mom and Pop pool store for that stuff. Buy the better one they have and it will last. If you can keep it out of the sun, it will help prolong its life also. I have my hose in a deck box.
