MAINE folks! Kennebunkport, Portland, Ogunquit areas.

I'll preface this by saying I am not a beach lover. The thought of my 3 yr old + sand is disastrous to me. My husband loves the beach. The boardwalk. ALL THE BEACHY THINGS. He's been bugging me to go since our first was born 6 years ago. I finally gave in, and we compromised by going to Maine (as we have a family friend loaning us their house for free!) I know the will absolutely love the sand, rocks, tide pools, etc.

Any suggestions on things to see or do in this area for a family with two kids, ages 3 and 6? My parents are going with us, woohoo! I'll take any recommendations from ice cream shops to parks to visit with a 2 hour drive. We are staying at Goose Rocks Cottages in Kennebunkport, sometime mid-late August. Outdoor activities preferred as my 3 yr old is the spawn of Satan and is totally THAT kid when trying to do nice things indoors ?I attached proof via his smirk in the pic below.

Portland Head Lighthouse and the adjacent Fort Williams park are nice places to burn off some energy for the spawn. I also really enjoy the L.L. Bean store(s) in Freeport, open 24 hours, (and a nice town to walk through). And lobster rolls anywhere of course. Minor league baseball at the Portland Sea Dogs stadium.

And if you want to go beach/boardwalk/arcade/mini golf/ice cream/food overload, take a ride down to Hampton beach in NH. (Not far at all)
