Main drain replacement & addition to concrete pool

I have a poured concrete pool painted with chlorinated rubber paint. The pool was built in 1965 and has had a few rounds of wall repairs through its life. The main drain is an old metallic drain that is deteriorating and I am planning on replacing it with two new drains. I have read an old thread on TFP where someone did this on a gunite/plaster pool, but it is an old thread. I am concerned about the size of the cuts and space around the drains and pipe to allow for a solid and durable patch. I was planning on using a latex admix with the concrete, but I have also read that hydraulic cement should be used for this type of project. In the old thread, the poster used SGM Bond Kote as a bonding agent. I have never used this, but this looks like a cement-based skim coat product for lack of a better term. From the size of the holes and channels, I would have to brush this on the exposed concrete and rebar. Not sure if this is a proper way to apply this product. Any words of wisdom or advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
You might consider eliminating the main drain completely. They are unnecessary for the maintenance of your pool water chemistry. Save the money and get a quality robot to clean the pool.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
