The internal latch system appears to have become and not allowing me to lift the knob to open gate. Any suggestions of how to gain access and fixing please

I don’t think there is anything serviceable in the latch. Just remove the screws and replace it with a new one.

Thank you very much. Unfortunately I am unable to open the gate to remove the screws. If the problem is unable to be fixed, perhaps I should hacksaw the lock and buy a new one

All fixed. I was able to push down on gate which gave me access to the plunger being held down by the magnet. I prised this up with a screwdriver which allowed the gate to open.
removing and opening the mechanism I found a spring and the plunger which had become unclipped. With a little difficulty I managed to re clip the plunger and spring. Attached to gate and presto.
Everything is working well again.
