Looking for opinions and real life experience with Hayward XE Variable Speed Pump

I have been considering this pump for my pool.

I currently have a single speed Tristar.

The programming of the XE seems a bit strange and not straight forward or user friendly.

I recently installed the Tristar VS pump in place of an 8 year old Intelliflo that failed at my brothers house. Out of us two, I'm the technical engineer guy who does everything from build engines, to program computers.. etc He is the non technical of us two, who has the accountant / detective brain. Because I hate just showing up to do installs at my brothers house, while he sits back, eating a sandwich. I told him to start reading the manual the day before I showed up for the install. After I finished, he had the pump up and running with his pre-determined speeds within 15 minutes. I personally, was very impressed with build quality and function of the Hayward Tristar. So, what am I getting at... it was so easy "even a caveman can do it.."
