First time pool owner - we moved in 3 weeks ago, my pump died(replaced a week later), and successfully performed my first shock after some algae crept in while the pump was down.

I feel like I'm getting a good handle on my chemistry(testing daily with my TF-PRO kit). I've been using liquid chlorine, PH Up/Down, stabilizer and baking soda to manage my levels.

I'm learning I should shock the pool every week or two. The previous owner left behind a bunch of pool store chemical supplies that I've largely learned to not use. But as I'm dialing in the least expensive way to manage the chemistry, I saw this dry shock treatment they left behind and wondering if it's usable. It seems to be super concentrated - does anyone have experience with this/how I use this to shock?

Now that my pool is nice and clear and I have a handle on what I'm doing, I don't want to mess up my flow but I'd like to use it to save money/not waste it if possible.

Thanks much.

There is no reason to shock a pool. Maintain your FC based on your CYA level. Read this link-->FC/CYA Levels

some algae crept in

I would do this test at this link to confirm you do not have algae, even if you can't see it...Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

If you fail the OCLT test, then start the SLAM process to clear the pool. Link-->SLAM Process

You can use that product, but it adds calcium. What is your current CH level, and what type of pool do you have?

Post a full set of results...FC, CC, pH, TA, CH, CYA.

Also be sure to download and use the PoolMath APP. It has some nice features. It also has a setting in your profile that will link the app test logs back here to your TFP profile which is super helpful.

Lastly, be sure to update your signature. It helps tremendously to know your pool and equipment info which is always pertinent for each questions.
