Leaf net for winter cover

Winterized my pool last year for the first time, and my one big regret was not having a leaf net on top of the winter cover to easily remove all the leaves when necessary. TONS of trees here. Seems like the leaf nets are crazy expensive though at the pool stores. Any other alternatives that might be cheaper, or just go with what the pool stores/websites have for best results?

I love mine - it was like $80 at in the swim i think. 33” round pool so its like 35” round.
On its 3rd winter

If you can get the leaves off the cover before they get waterlogged it's relatively easy without a net and probably with a net. Here in Jersey this is the first year we didn't have rain and the leaves weren't waterlogged.

When I had a leaf net, I probably didn't use it correctly because the waterlogged leaves made it extremely heavy to deal with. I have resorted to just using a leaf rake and scooping the wet leaves (not this year!) off the cover. In spring I use a hose to get whatever fell into the cover into one area and scoop again. I love the fall, I hate the leaves!

I just installed a leaf net on a tarp covered pool. I did stretch it to keep it suspended but I have my doubts it can support anything for too long. Yes if it sits right on the cover it's basically going to sit in whatever precip is there and all it can do is keep the debris separate but I can see it being difficult to deal with come end of winter. We shall see what happens.

I can dump mine and replace it in 5 minutes or so. I try to keep my cover pumped off so the leaves do dry out. I usually dump it right before the freeze after most all the leaves have fallen and then again when its time to remove the cover in the spring. Its much easier/lighter than dealing with a wet cover too. I don’t attach mine really- it basically just lays on top of the solid cover and I use large binder clips to hold it & my solid cover in place in several places (helps with the solid covers wind flapping).
Mine has held up pretty well - some of the little seed pods do go through it but a great many ride on the leaves when I pull it off.

Thanks everyone. It's just such a pain having those leaves all over and we always get rain so it turns into a big mess and I'm sure that gross leaf water is going into my pool not helping anything 🙃
You can always remove the leaves via a leaf blower before the cover has water and if there's water you can scoop them up with the leaf rake before they start to decompose.

Autumn is no different than other seasons. All require a modicum of work.
