Greetings,

Our home and pool are approaching 9 years old and I have had it with the ornamental grass that we had planted around the pool. Love the look, hate the maintenance that it has created around and in the pool, so I ripped them out. Now I have a large area on the backside of the pool that needs some landscaping attention. We are in zone 8, have long periods of no rain and do seem to be getting freezing weather every winter. This area is not irrigated, and looking for somethign that is low maintenance and doesn’t put debris in pool.

That area looks perfect for crushed or decomposed granite, with drought tolerant plants spaced out. Something like this:

Of course, and without seeing the rest of your yard, it also looks perfect for a covered outdoor kitchen or entertaining area.
