Hello,

I have a Jandy PLC1400 and keep getting error code 123, it appears to only be happening in reverse. I have replaced the cell and power code but am still getting the error. Then cell was 3+ years old and the power cord was 7 years old with corrosion so I felt very confident that that would fix it but it did not. Everything I am finding indicates that it would be a salt cell or power cord issue but could it be the power interface board? Jandy Power Interface Board Assembly | R0984100

If so, is this manual still a good way to verify in on page 23?

I would do the electrical voltage tests that are outlined in the manual.

Below are the most common error codes. If you have replaced the cell and the cord then the board may be the issue.

120-Low cell current in forward direction -check DC cord, clean cell if necessary or replace cell.
121-Low cell current in reverse direction, same as 120 above.
123-Low to no current at cell -check DC cord, clean cell or replace if necessary.
124-High current indicated at the cell -this usually means a bad back board.

I checked the power and the voltage is only about 11.5 vs the 22-28 that it should be at. I am only getting the 123 service code when its in reverse but the voltage seemed to be 11.5 in reverse or not.

Any thoughts? Again, I have just replaced the cell and the power cord and am getting the same errors.

I have been getting the 123 code as well. Then it shuts itself down and says it needs service. I am able to get it going again by cycling the power. This only seems to happen to me when it is super hot outside and I have the chlorinator set to 100% for the 12 hours the pump is running.

I have tried to do some other research but no real guidance. I cannot remember if you called Jandy tech support or not.
The board may be the only next step to replace it.

Thanks. I called them yesterday but anything beyond the power cord and salt cell is considered electrical and they can not provide guidance to customers for liability purposes. I ordered the board this afternoon based on the voltage issue. I will let you know the results.

Hi, I just replaced my salt cell with a new PLC1400. New power cord, new flow sensor/cord. I used to get the 123 service code and now I'm getting it still after replacement. I'm attaching a photo of my board. I don't have much knowledge on boards and it is beyond something I'd want to repair. Is there anything visibly wrong with it?

Does the unit stop producing chlorine when it throws the 123 code?

Also FSworld where did you order the new board? I can't find them online.

I'm now worried that I installed a new $900 salt cell and if I have to replace the APUREM unit on the wall with a different unit it will not be compatible.

A new APUREM unit should be compatible. It is all the same system. Do you have a separate control box for your Salt system or is it integrated into the main AquaLink control cabinet? Show a picture of what is mounted on the wall by the equipment pad.

I purchased it from here. Jandy Power Interface Board Assembly | R0984100

As far as testing, if you look at page 22 on this manual, thats how I was testing it. We will see if it fixes it next week.

I replaced the PIB and 24 hours later no error codes so I think I fixed it. Question though, is it normal that sometimes I have hydrogen bubbles (comfirmed by holding a lighter up to it and hearing the pops) coming out of the first jet and other times I don't? Its set to 50% so do I just happen to be catching it when its on/off sometimes?

I get bubbles when the cell is on and none when the green light goes out. If you turn it up to 100%, then you should always see bubbles; 0%, no bubbles.
