Hi all, for the most part, my Jandy palm works doing most things. However, if I want to change the temperature of the spa or pool, I have to adjust it manually at the heater. The heater will not listen to whatever I put into the palm control. It will also not switch between pool heat and spa heat without me manually going to the heater and pressing either one. Any tips on what to do?

On the main PCB of the AquaLink controller, there is a Green Terminal Bar at the top of the board. the 2 wires connections on the far right (looking at the front of the board) are for the Heater Connection. You may want to verify those are still connected as they tell the heater what to do. You should turn off power to the AquaLink box, Pull those 2 wires and reset then in place. Then turn back on the AquaLink power.

The heater does turn on, but the temp can only be adjusted manually at the heater.

The Aqualink does not change the temperature of a heater that it is controlling.
The heater temperature set point should be set to 104F and left there.
The Aqualink has its own water temperature sensor and will turn the heater on and off based on the desired temperature you set in the Aqualink and the water temperature.
So let’s be more specific and what does the Aqualink show as the water temperature and what desired pool temperature do you have set in the Aqualink?

I don't have my instructions and it has been several years, but I remember you had to set the heater to max temp like 104 then the automation could adjust. You may wish to read up on that.
Edit - I see Allen posted at same time - he has stated what I thought.
Hello, the temperature shows 75. I can set the temp to 78 (at the actual heater unit) and the pool will heat to 78 and turn off. If I then change the temp from my palm control to 80 because I feel it isn't warm enough, nothing happens. But if I go to the heater unit (which still states 78), and set it to 80 with the buttons on the heater, it will kick back on, heat to 80, and turn off once it reaches that temp. My palm control use to be able to change the temp, but for some reason I must now use controls on the actual heater to adjust temp. In addition, If I want to turn on spar mode and spa heat from the palm, the heater unit will not switch from pool to spa. I have to go up to the unit and push spa on the heater.

So the problem is with your Palm control not communicating with the Aqualink. There is nothing wrong with your heater.
What pool or spa temperature is set on your Palm control?

The heater must be set in remote mode. Check the heater settings. It got reset somehow.

bO Code
A bO code is a normal display on the heater display when the heater is being controlled by automation. It indicates the heater is in remote control mode.To put your heater in bypass you:
- Press the Mode button to place the heater in Standby Mode
- Hold the Down Arrow and Mode buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds for Bypass operation. “bO” will be displayed on the screen
- Heater must then be in the Spa or Pool Mode for operation. The heater will fire when instructed by the external control.
To remove your heater from bypass mode you:
- Press and hold the DOWN key and
- Then press and hold the MODE key
- Hold down both keys for 3 seconds until the indication ‘‘bO’’ is removed from the display.
Hi, I don’t have a mode button. I have these. It also displays “remote tstat enabled”.

Did you try just power cycling everything? If that doesn't work you may need to reseat the connection between the heater and AquaLink.

We need to know what equipment you have to help troubleshoot as it's guesswork at present. Take a look at Optional Remote Controls section in the Jandy JXi manual and tell us how it's currently wired/configured.
I’m not sure as I bought the house not that long ago. Here’s pics of what I have.

Did you power cycle everything? I mean completely off cut the circuit. Heater and Aqualink.
So assuming you have in inground pool, add the following to your signature (with model numbers if available):
Pump: Intelliflo?
Filter: what type of filter
Chlorinator: do you have AquaPure?
Cleaner: automatic pool cleaner?
Heater: Jandy JXi 400K BTU Heater
Automation: Aqualink RS4 or RS8? With AquaPalm remote
Pump: Intelliflo?

Chlorinator: do you have AquaPure?

Has it ever worked? If not, I suspect no one ever ran the wire from Aqualink to the heater. It is very easy to connect.
