Is it safe to swim?

Hello,
Brand new pool owner- just opened for the season and have been slamming for some time. Pool went from green to clean thanks to very helpful people here on the forums.

The pool is half clear, but the deep end is a cloudy blue and you can only see about halfway down- 6 feet ish. I’m pretty sure this is a bit of leftover algae that will eventually disappear with continuous slam.

So the question is, can we swim this weekend, despite the pool appearing cloudy? It’s 100 degrees in south carolina and the family is dying for a swim. Is it safe to swim and continue clearing the pool after?

What is it that makes seeing the bottom critical?

U need to be able to see a swimmer in distress or lying on the bottom of the pool.
Once u can do that , It is safe to swim with fc anywhere between minimum & slam level for your cya FC/CYA Levels

Well Crud. What is it that makes seeing the bottom critical? Because the fog is algae? Also, what if you can see the bottom, swim for a minute and then you can’t? Do you think this is still unsafe?

Appreciate it!
If someone slips under the water, it can be very difficult to impossible to see a disturbance on the surface. If they go down to the bottom where you can’t see them, they could be down there and no one would know until the pool is clear enough to see the bottom.

That is not a discovery anyone ever ever EVER wants to make.

That makes sense. I appreciate the responses!

And sadly, this has happened before.

That said: as long as you can make out stuff on the bottom, even if not completely clear, it should be fine. That photo in the first post is just the hot tub, but if the pool is that clear, it’s swimmable.
