How long should i wait to swim after adding 3 cups of 12.5 % chlorine? What if i was to add more or less?
Because a lot of websites also advise to over chlorinate to make it last a whole week without adding chlorine again. We take a different approach and recommend lower amounts and more constant dosing to maintain a constant chlorine level. SO.. obviously we think we have better advice because... well.. we are just better. Why do some websites say like 4 hours?
The other websites typically call for shocking your pool weekly or adding a lot of chlorine at one time. Here at TFP you have to constantly add chlorine daily based on the FC/CYA chart and not get lower than your minimum. This means not having to shock and being able to swim after just 15/30 minutes depending on your pump speed. Why do some websites say like 4 hours?
If this is the case and you have full service than why don't they leave extra chlorine? I am sick of my pool service but if I fire them than the pool becomes my responsibility. Trying to learn through this site if I will have adequate support and can cut the cord...Because a lot of websites also advise to over chlorinate to make it last a whole week without adding chlorine again. Some websites say a lot of stuff that isn’t true. Why do some websites say like 4 hours?
That is the whole purpose of this site. To teach pool owners a maintenance protocol that is based in science and that you can do on your own.. and its cheaper too.If this is the case and you have full service than why don't they leave extra chlorine? I’ve got news for you. The pool is your responsibility. The pool service has no stake in keeping it clean. does anyone have a link to that chart? It is safe to swim with FC up to shock levels. which could be anywhere from 12 to 24 depending on your CYA levels.
yes i use the tf tests. pool math told me it would take me from 1.5 fc to 6 fcHey cougar !! I’m concerned about the 3 cups added. That’s only 1 FC with your 12% bleach. The average pool consumes 2-4 FC daily throughout the season. With the longest days and highest sun angle right now, most of us are losing towards the higher side of the 2-4 ppm.
How are you testing ? You need a reliable drop based kit as the stores ‘free test’ is designed to line their pockets and test strips are only worth their cost of 5 cents each.
We highly recommend the TF-100 from tftestkits.net as the hands down bang for the buck. Nobody has ever regretted it and after seeing what it can do for them, run out to by the refills when the time comes. Literally come back bragging that they got their supplies early at the next spring sale.
thank you!The only test reagent that’s particularly bad is the silver nitrate for salt in the K-1766 add on test, which it doesn’t appear you have. Even so it’s harmless enough to dump in the grass up to 25ml at a time. Not only is it pretty unhealthy but it will also stain your fingers for a while. All the others are fine.
Obviously try to minimize contact with any of them just because, but other than that, no worries.![]()
Check your settings in pool math. (the wagon wheel). Need to update it for 23k gallons. Or your info is wrong on your profile here.yes i use the tf tests. pool math told me it would take me from 1.5 fc to 6 fc
