Intellichlor Pentair IC40 How Do You Know If It's Bad

777,

Run this test..

Set the cell output to 50% and then watch the "Cell" light.. It should come on for about 2.5 minutes, and then it will be off for about 2.5 minutes.. This cycle will just keep repeating.. If this test works, then most likely the cell is making chlorine.

Keep in mind the cell cannot make more chlorine than your pool can consume, if you have algae.. Even if you can't see it yet..

What color is your water? Do you see any algae?

What is your CYA level?

How large is your pool in gallons?

How long do you run the pump each day?

What is your cell's output level? What FC level do you try to maintain?

How old is the cell? Most cells last 5 to 7 years.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks. My IC40 only has 20,40,60,80,100% The lights never cycle no matter what level I put it on. They just stay green.
Pool water is clear. I thought my Power Center went bad so I bought a new one and the fuse on the new one blew immediately. I had gotten a new cell a few years ago and kept my old one (maybe 10 years old) so I put the old one back in place and everything worked normally again so the newer cell I was using must have gone bad. I could not recall if I knew for sure if the old cell I replaced a few years ago actually went bad or I just got a new one just in case. It might have been bad water chemistry back then. CYA levels seem to be okay. 28,00 gallon pool.
