Hi Everyone,

So for the past couple years my pool light has not worked properly, it will go off on its own after a little while and then if I wait I can turn it back on; I have replaced the bulb and still did it, so I am not sire what to do?

In the meantime I was thinking of an alternative and found some lights that hang or screw on the returns, has anyone ad success with these?
Any other good alternatives?
Thanks for your help!

How about some pics or links to the lights you found and want opinions on?

I would suggest having someone look at it that knows what they are looking at. If your light is malfunctioning and it's a 120v light there is a chance that's it's dangerous. Depending on age of pool and light there may not be gfci protection on it and could electrocute someone. The one DIY unfriendly aspect of a pool is the electric portion. Even electricians are usually not up to speed on pools if they dont work on them regularly. If you feel you can handle it then check your breaker for gfci and actually test it. When you pull the light out of the niche you should look inside and confirm you have an extra ground wire with compound to the lug inside in addition to the wire going to the light. A mirror works well in a stick underwater

The lights that fit in returns are usually planned during a build or Reno as the wire needs to be fished thru the piping and then brought up and connected as a normal light with code requirements
