How to read a flowmeter?

Hello, I was wondering how to read a flowmeter. I can see that on the flowmeter it has two sides that say "SCH 80" and "SCH 40", so I'm wondering what significance these things have. Also I've noticed that when you try to read the GPM, the markings don't go in order? If you're looking at one you'll know what I mean. I'm guessing "SCH 40" and "SCH 80" mean something because looking at the flow meter it doesn't make much sense how the scale is marked?

I posted a link to the version I have for a visual;

Sch 40 and sch 80 are different types of pipe. Most pool pipe is sch 40. Sch 40 is white and should say schedule 40 on the pipe.

Schedule 80 is gray and should say schedule 80 on the pipe.

Schedule 80 has the same outside diameter but a smaller inside diameter due to a thicker pipe wall.

The different inside diameter requires a different scale for accuracy.

So, you read the top of the float using the scale appropriate for your type of pipe.
