How much river rock do I need? HELP

You have 164 linear feet around. Each pallet is 10 cubic feet. 2 feet wide and 2" thick, each pallet will cover 30 linear feet. So, will need 5.5 pallets. Roughly, $2,600.00 in rock. All number rounded up. Bulk from rock yard will probably be way, way less than that cost.

Cut the final outcomes in half. Math got me off on using radius. I'd say with thickness wanted, plan on 3 pallets.

I found this on the HD site - as a similar question was asked for the 1-3in size.
each .50 cu ft 40lb bag covers approx. 2 sq ft. Estimate 2 inch high - 1 level of rock

I calculated using area of the rock ring around the pool and got similar outcome to that of @Toxophilite of 2.5 to 3 pallets (i.e. 50 to 60 bags)

My rock yard was 5 times cheaper than the .5 cu ft HD bags of crushed gravel. I imagine river rock would be similar. I bought other stuff too so the deliver fee was waived, but even with it, the yard was 4X cheaper than the HD bags.

I do know that HD bag anything is waaaaay more expensive than landscape or rock yard bulk. Go through that every year with pricing mulching. 1 bag of black mulch, cover a mere 2cf, is about $3 a bag A little cheaper is a 5 cubic yard truck from HD for $478. I always buy from a local landscaping yard for $300 for 8 cubic yards plus $69 delivery.

I went with the 3-5" black Mexican beach pebbles. I would use 30lbs per Sq ft from my experience. The HD price does not seem too bad. I was able to get a contractor price at Northeast Nursery in Peabody for 46 cents/ Lb . I did a lot of research to find these and they are hard to come by in this area.IMG_20200917_184253.jpgIMG_20210327_170449.jpgIMG_20200816_083359.jpgIMG_20200917_184219.jpg

Wow beautiful pool !!!
Thanks.... :) We love our small backyard oasis....

I would give Northeast Nursery a call just to check on prices. They do have a retail store as well that offers the Mexican beach pebbles in a few different colors and sizes. It's is definitely a bit of a hike to get there and you might need to rent a small truck or trailer but you could save a few bucks... I also would not trust HD to deliver the correct product. I saw many post about receiving the wrong product and having issues with a refund.
