How much is safe to drain from pool?

Our pool was flooded with salt water from the recent hurricane. Our home is on the water, so I suspect the water table is quite high with the flooding and the higher tides. Of course, my pool looks like the ocean, and I need to restore it. I plan to use the drain and replace method, however, due to all the sediment, I really need to isolate the worst of it towards the deep end so I can pump that out. Is it safe to let the shallow end go slightly dry, or should I leave a foot or two of water throughout the entire pool? I certainly don’t want the pool to “pop.” Is it possible for just one half of a pool to “pop?” The pool is 6’ deep and around 15x30.

Thanks!

How much does water cost? I think I would try to drain from the deep end and fill with fresh water in at the opposite end at the same time. Without the filter running

Is the debris suspended in the water, or has it settled to the bottom? If at the bottom, can you just brush it to the deep end?
